Bert L. Evans

Bert L. Evans, 62, of Goshen, died Saturday morning, July 25, 2015 at IU Health Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis from complications following open heart surgery. He was born July 29, 1952 in Goshen to Joe and Delores (Bess) Evans. On August 14, 1971 he married JaiAnn Anderson at Beulah United Missionary Church in Elkhart. She survives along with their children, Laurie Brewster of Goshen and Aaron (Meredith) Evans of Salinas, California; five grandchildren, Kathryn Elizabeth, Jordan Taylor, Jakob Allen, Ashley Nicole and Zachary Michael; his mother, Delores of Goshen; and two sisters, Karen (Liam) O'Donovan of Goshen and Sharon Kay (Colin) Benard of Wallingford, Connecticut. He was preceded in death by his father. A lifelong area resident, he was a 1970 graduate of Concord High School. He worked as a project manager at Herman & Goetz in South Bend until retiring in 2010. Bert was part of a home Bible study group for 15 years and participated in mission trips to Honduras and the Philippines. Known as a Master Gardener, he enjoyed time outside and watching NASCAR races. He was very dedicated to his grandchildren and their activities. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015 funeral service will be conducted. Steve VanBruaene will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
