Berneda I. Morse, 81, of Elkhart, passed away from an extended illness Thursday, July 21, 2022.
She was born August 18, 1940 in Flint, Michigan to Elmer and Flossie (Morningstar) King.
She married Don R. Morse on April 11, 1987 at Calvary Methodist Church, Elkhart. He passed away July 2, 2018.
Berneda is survived by her two children, Sue E. Higham of Elkhart and Joseph W. (Dawn) Stealy of Pembroke, Kentucky and three grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Hartman and six brothers, Harold, Elmer Jr., Darwin, Glenn, Melvin and Eugene King.
A 1958 Goshen High School graduated, Berneda worked in the administrative department for the Goshen Police Department for 16 years and retired in 2005. She attended Liberty Community Church, Elkhart, she put her heart and soul into everything. She always put others first, loved growing and taking care of her flowers. Besides her children and grandchildren her dogs were her biggest love. She was a member of Second Chance Small Dog Rescue.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 25 and Tuesday, from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Terry Tyler will officiate.
Burial will follow at Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen.
