Rev Benjamin E. Antle

January 2, 1925 — March 14, 2008

Rev. Benjamin E. Antle, 83, of St. Petersburg, Florida, died at his home Friday, March 14, 2008. He was born in Monroeville, Indiana, on January 2, 1925, to Edward and Gladyce (Rohn) Antle.  He married Inez "Claire" Mann on November 28, 1953, at the First United Methodist Church, Goshen.  She survives. A graduate of Greenfield High School, Rev. Antle received his bachelor's degree from DePauw University, Greencastle and then did two years of graduate study at Duke University in North Carolina.  He earned his Master of Divinity from Garrett Evangelical Seminary at Northwestern  in Evanston, Illinois. Rev. Antle served churches in Kokomo, Sharpsville, Elwood, Hagerstown, Angola, Lafayette and Fort Wayne.  He served as District Superintendent in both the Marion and Fort Wayne Districts.  He was a delegate to Mission Consultation in Haiti and to the Theological Seminar at the University of London.  He served on the Board of Trustees at Warren Memorial Home and DePauw University.  He served on the Board of Directors for both Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne. He is survived by his wife, Claire; a daughter, Debbie (Mick) Peek of Indianapolis; a son, Mark Antle of Indianapolis; three grandchildren; and a sister, Naomi (J.A.) Leatherman of Goshen. Friends may call 10 to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, March 20 at the First United Methodist Church, Goshen. An 11:30 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2008, funeral service will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church, Goshen.  Rev. Bob Dexter, District Superintendent of the Michiana District and Pastors Ed and Brenda Fritz of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
