Beatrice P. "Bea" Dumas 91, of Goshen, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday morning September 7, 2014 at 3:00 a.m. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the home of her daughter. She was born July 22, 1923 in Fonde, Kentucky, to Ellis and Maudie Jane (Howard) May. On June 7, 1947 she married the love of her life, Willie "Bill" Dumas in Chatsworth, Georgia. They moved to Michigan in 1948 where they had their only child, a daughter, Sheilia. In 1985 they retired to Goshen to be close to their daughter and family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Goshen. She loved the Lord and chose to serve Him by being a prayer warrior. She was a soft spoken, gracious woman who was kind and concerned about all she met. She lovingly took care of her husband during his long illness. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2009. She loved her family and delighted in her five grandchildren, Stephanie (Glen) Claar, of Elkhart, Jonathan Dolph, of Dunlap, Joshua (Mendella) Dolph, of Goshen, Jeremy Dolph, of Dunlap and Jordan Dolph, of Osceola. She was lovingly called "G-G" (great-grandmother) by her 19 great-grandchildren and was looking forward to having another in April. She is survived by a daughter, Sheilia (John) Dolph, Goshen; five grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years; and five siblings, Ellis May, Beulah Lowery, Ancil May, June Bramblett and Leon May. She had various positions over the years but was first and foremost a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and loved all of her family and friends. She left a legacy of love for all who know her and she will be sadly missed. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where a 1:30 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014, funeral service will take place. Dr. Gregg Lanzen will officiate. Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Lung Association or the American Kidney Association.
