Barbara A. Whetstone

Barbara A. Whetstone 70, of Goshen, died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. She was born May 9, 1943 in LaPorte, to Richard E. and Lorraine (Peterson) Peterson. In April 1987 she married Daniel G. Whetstone. He survives along with her step-mother, Martha (Holston) Peterson, of Lydick; a daughter, Christine (Mark) Barden, of Westville; a son, Chet (Kimberly) Menczynski, of Goshen; four granddaughters, Amy, Elizabeth, Kayla and Sarah; and her siblings, Richard (Karen) Peterson, of North Liberty, Donna (Glen) Smith, of Tippecanoe, Ron (Janet) Peterson, of LaPorte, and Marilyn (Roger) Robison, of Venice, Florida. Mrs. Whetstone was a 1961 graduate of North Liberty High School and member of the Red Hat Society. Barbara enjoyed going to sales and auctions. She was well known and appreciated for her volunteer work in the community. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the 5 p.m. memorial service on Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Celebrant Matt Peterson will conduct the service. Burial will be at a later date in Violett Cemetery.
