Barbara Ellen (Mast) Kling Allyn, 84, of Goshen, passed away on Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, at Waterford Healthcare Campus.
She was born April 15, 1940, in Middlebury, to Joe and Edna (Miller) Mast.
In 1970 she married Wendel Kling who passed away in 1986. In 1990, Barbara married John H. Allyn who survives.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include four children, Dawn M. Shroyer and Daniel W. Kling both of Goshen, Kathleen Allyn, Virginia and John M. Allyn, California; granddaughter, Ashley; great-grandsons, Cohen and Hudson Maynard; granddaughter, Kayla Jo; great-grandson, Nolan Glasgow; grandson, Justin Daisey; granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Breanna Kling; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Mast of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Mast.
Barbara grew up in an Amish home and later became a member of the Eighth Street Mennonite Church. Through the church she volunteered to help in several nursing homes. Then she became a nursing assistant at Goshen Hospital working in many departments but mostly in obstetrics for 31 years.
After she married John, she became a member of the Goshen First Church. There she was involved in many church activities. She became the music librarian for almost 20 years as well as a member of the choir. She worked with the mission group and sewed many bags together which the church filled with school supplies that were sent to Ganta, Africa. She also volunteered for other church activities and was in a Bible study group. She became Vice President of the United Methodist Women of Northern Indiana which was involved in activities including a homeless shelter in Indianapolis.
Barb was a member of the Goshen Noon Kiwanis Club and helped in their service projects. She was also a volunteer for the Lerner Theater in Elkhart.
She was a great wife, mother and friend to many. She will be missed.
Visitation will be Friday November 29, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and on Saturday, November 30, from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service at Goshen First Church.
Memorial contributions may be given to Goshen First Church or Goshen Noon Kiwanis Foundation.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery.
