Barbara R. Grotrian, 82, of Shipshewana, died Monday, July 18, 2016, at Greenleaf Health Campus, Elkhart.
She was born in Goshen June 2, 1934 to Ray D. and Ruth E. (Hunt) Auer.
On June 27, 1954 she married Lester Grotrian in Elkhart.
He survives along with four children, Kim (Jim) Miller of Middlebury, Mark (Diane) Grotrian of Goshen, Christine (Jerry) Yoder of Millersburg and Kimi (Christopher) Healey of Bristol; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Phyllis Benjamin of Flint, Michigan and Ruth Ann Himebaugh of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Donald Ray Auer; a grandson, Brice Miller; a granddaughter-in-law, Carla E. Grotrian and a great-grandson, Liam A. Grotrian.
Mrs. Grotrian was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where she served as custodian. She worked as a lunch aide at Jefferson Elementary School; as a seamtress at Jean Lee Originals and as a cashier at Yoder’s Budget Shop. She volunteered at Thelma Schrock Center on the Goshen Greencroft campus.
Friends may call Thursday, July 21, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Friday, July 22, 2016, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Goshen. Rev. Andrew Wollman will officiate.
Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Building Fund or Bethesda Lutheran Communities.
