Barbara L. Archer

Barbara L. Archer, 84, of Goshen, died Wednesday evening, April 8, 2015 at her home. She was born September 4, 1930 in Bartholomew County to Harry and Iva (Sylvester) Smith. On January 21, 1961 she married Richard R. Archer in Elkhart. He survives along with two daughters, Kathy Thomas, of Elkhart, and Susan C. (Jerry) McBride, of New Paris; a son, Terry L. Archer, of Mishawaka; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosemary Hoffman, and a brother, Charles R. Smith, both of Bloomington. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Janet S. English, and a brother, Carl E. Smith. Barbara worked for 20 years at the former G.C. Murphy store at Linway Plaza and prior to that for JJ Newberry. She was a 1949 graduate of Needmore High School. She enjoyed her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved going to garage sales, helping her family garden, and rooting for the I.U. Hoosiers. Friends may call Monday, April 13, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the 10:00 am funeral, Tuesday, April 14, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Parkinson's Foundation.
