B. Frank Hartzler, 95, died at his home in Goshen on Thursday afternoon, January 20, 2011. He had been in failing health He was born Jan. 25, 1915, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to the late Irvin and Susie (Sutter) Hartzler. He married Moneda Troyer on August 19, 1944 in Buffalo, New York. She died April 25, 2003. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo (Jim) Short of Goshen; two sons, Frank L. Hartzler of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Jim (Kathleen) Hartzler of Brooklyn, New York; five grandchildren, Rachel Hartzler, Kelly (Matt) Muhonen, Brian Short, Libby Short, and Bridget Hartzler; a great-granddaughter, Anna Snider; a sister, Edith Helmuth of Adair, Oklahoma; two brothers, Fred Hartzler of Rochester, New York and Glade Hartzler of Sugarcreek, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Blanche Hartzler of Goshen. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Ralph Hartzler. Frank was a carpenter and a builder during his years in western New York. He enjoyed gardening and growing roses, bowling, and travelling. He was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He volunteered as a Redcoat at Goshen General Hospital for 13 years and helped at Greencroft Healthcare daily for 15 years. Friends may call 1-4 p.m., Sunday, January 23, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church on Sunday, January 23, 2011, at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be at Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be made to Jubilee Fund at College Mennonite Church or Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
