B. Claudine Cripe

August 16, 1916 — December 15, 2013

B. Claudine Cripe, 97, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, formerly of Goshen, passed away on December 15, 2013, surrounded by her family. She will be greatly missed by her children. She was born August 16, 1916 in Liberty Township, Wells County, Ind., to Claude L. and Mae (Beaty) Mounsey. She received a teaching degree from Ball State Teacher's College. After additional studies of speech pathology at Columbia University, she taught school and provided speech therapy to children in Indiana. On October 17, 1943 she married Jesse H. Cripe in Bluffton. She moved with him as he worked in Schenectady, N.Y., Jacksonville, and Gainesville, Fla., and Tarrytown, N.Y. She spent much of her time volunteering in such roles at PTA president and assisting the Exceptional Children Department in Jacksonville. Her hobbies included many crafts including porcelain and fabric painting. She and Jess retired to Dunnellon, Fla., where they were members of Dunnellon Presbyterian Church. In 1997, they moved to Fort Walton Beach to be close to family. She has resided at Belvedere Commons for the past 11 years. Claudine is survived by a daughter, Barbara Jo Marques, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a son, Claude Richard (Geraldine) Cripe, of Pensacola, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kimberly Goldinger, of Lexington, Mass., Gregory Smith, of Sunrise, Fla., and David Cripe, of Pace, Fla.; three great grandchildren, Sidney, Lauren, and Kylie Goldinger; a brother, Claude J. (Cathy) Mounsey; and a sister-in-law, Elaine M. Mounsey. She was preceded in death by her loving husband; her parents; a brother, Robert B. Mounsey; and a sister, Joycelena J. Schlotzhauer. Friends and family will gather for a graveside service at 1 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at West Goshen Cemetery. Rev. Alan Griffin of First Presbyterian Church, Goshen, will officiate. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting the family with local arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Disease Research.
