Avon J. Yoder Good, 74, of Goshen, died Friday evening, April 11, 2014, at Greencroft Healthcare. She had been in declining health. She was born May 3, 1939 in Grantsville, Maryland, to Alva and Ruth (Eash) Yoder. She married Paul E. Good, June 13, 1964 in Springs, Pennsylvania. He died in 1974. Survivors include a daughter, Carol J. (Phil) Good-Elliott of Goshen; a son, Michael P. (Carol) Eby-Good of Lancaster, PA; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Alta, Paul and Aaron; and three brothers, Bradley Yoder, North Manchester, Wayne (Roveen) Yoder, Ridgeley, W.V. and Keith (Esta) Yoder, Winchester, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. A 15 year resident of Greencroft, Avon moved to Goshen in 1998, coming from Lima, Ohio, where she taught medical terminology at University of Northwestern Ohio. She was also a self-employed seamstress. She loved sewing, birding and spending time with family and friends. She graduated from Goshen College with a nursing degree in 1961 and was a member of both College Mennonite Church, Goshen and Salem Mennonite Church, Elida, Ohio. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2014, at The Meetinghouse at Greencroft, Goshen and 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday at the church. An 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, funeral service will be conducted at College Mennonite Church. Pastors Pamela Yoder and Willie Kanagy will officiate. Cremation will follow the service.
