Avis Marie Tassin, 92, of Goshen, died Thursday afternoon, August 23, 2012, at IU Health Goshen Hospital. She was born July 31, 1920 in Des Moines, Iowa to John Stewart and Harriett (Ruggles) Hadsall. She married Emile R. Tassin May 28, 1940 in Des Moines. He preceded her in death April 14, 1993. Surviving is a daughter, Judith Williams of Goshen; a son, Joel (Linda) Tassin of Chicago, Illinois; two grandchildren, Erin (Tom) Wilson of Statesboro, Georgia and Kelly (Patrick) Dillon of Goshen; three great-grandsons, Logan Wilson of Indianapolis, Austin Wilson of Statesboro, Georgia and Marshall Dillon of Goshen; a step-great-grandson, Brandon Dillon of Goshen; and two step-great-great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and Herman Hadsall. A homemaker, Mrs. Tassin had worked in offices of Dr. Westfall and Dr. Gorham. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Goshen. Mrs. Tassin's wishes were for her body to be cremated. An 11 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2012, Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at First Presbyterian Church, Goshen. Pastor Allan Griffin will officiate. The family will greet friends at Hardie Hall after the service. A private burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church Food Pantry.
