Avis J. Denham

Avis J. Denham, 80, of Goshen, died suddenly Wednesday evening, March 26, 2008, at Goshen General Hospital. She was born in Goshen, on February 17, 1928, to Harry A. and Mildred (Werstler) Cress.  She married Floyd A. Denham on June 30, 1945 in Goshen.  He preceded her in death on February 21, 2007. A lifetime Goshen resident, Mrs. Denham worked at the former Johnson Controls as a relief operator for 42 years, retiring in 1992.  She attended the New Paris Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; four sisters, Wilma West, Janice Steele, Virginia Cripe and Minnie Buckmaster; and three brothers, Richard, Wayne and Gerald Cress. Friends may call 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, March 30, at the funeral home. The Monday, March 31, 2008, funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor Don Miener of the New Paris Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Paris Church of the Nazarene.
