Ashley C. Austin, 30, died Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

She was born September 10, 1993 in Goshen to Glen and Karen (Pangburn) Leer.

On May 27, 2017 she married the love of her life, Kane Austin in New Paris at the Bethany Church of the Brethren.

He survives along with her parents; sister, Sarah (Todd) Stroup and nephews, Clayton and Owen, Goshen; father and mother-in-law, Steve and Holly Austin, Mt. Vernon, Illinois; sister-in-law, Adrian (Quest Newberry) Austin, Brenham, Texas; and her constant companion, Rowan, her shepherd mix dog.

A 2012 Fairfield High School graduate, Ashley was active in the FFA program and Elkhart County 4-H. She continued her education in agriculture at Lincoln Land Community College, Springfield, Illinois, before receiving her bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education from Kansas State University. In 2018 she completed a master’s degree in agriculture education and Community Leadership Development from the University of Kentucky.

Ashley was currently an agricultural teacher for Canton-Galva High School, Canton, Kansas, where she began the school’s first FFA program. She dedicated many hours of her life to her students. She was also involved in various livestock judging teams in the Kansas area.

Kane and Ashley were avid travelers and enjoyed visiting Iceland and Italy. A young woman with a true servant’s heart, Ashley was loved and will be missed by many.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27, from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.

There will also be one hour of visitation Thursday, beginning at 10 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service at Zion Community Church, 323 E. Lincoln St., Millersburg. Pastor Jeff Lewis will officiate.

Burial will follow at Rock Run Cemetery, Goshen.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the Kansas FFA Foundation, 110 Umberger Hall, Manhattan, KS 66506, designated for the Austin memorial fund.
