Arthur E. Stauffer

Arthur E. Stauffer, 73, of White Pigeon, Michigan, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Goshen Hospital.

He was born April 23, 1943 in Goshen to Harold and Laura (Wilson) Stauffer.

On December 31, 1964 he married Julia A. Wogomon at First Brethren Church, Goshen.

She survives along with a daughter, Deborah Stauffer of Goshen, two grandchildren, Kara A. Minter and Kahleb E. Teall; a sister, Betty (David) Hershberger of Goshen and a brother, Gene (Dixie) Stauffer of Elkhart.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marvel K. Stauffer.

He graduated in 1962 from Goshen High School where he played basketball.

Art served with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1965-67.

He was best known for his charm and wit. In any situation he found humor and wisdom. He loved people and always found and brought out the best in each person he met.

He owned Stauffer Builders for 44 years and was involved in building and remodeling many local homes and businesses, including his church, First Presbyterian and Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.

He served as president of Elkhart County Home Builders Association and served on their membership committee as its chairman.  He served many years as an elder of First Presbyterian Church and as chairman of the building and grounds committee.

Friends may call Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017 funeral service at First Presbyterian Church.  Pastor Alan Griffin will officiate.
