Arthur D. Sherck

Arthur D. Sherck, 96, of Goshen, passed away early Monday morning, June 10, 2013, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing. He was born May 2, 1917 in Middlebury to Jasper and Clara (Weaver) Sherck. On November 25, 1937 he married Marjorie A. Yoder in Middlebury. He is survived by a daughter, Julie (Jerry) Yoder of Goshen; a son, Burnett (Linda) Sherck of Bristol; five grandchildren; a step-grandson; 12 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Viola Stark Chrispyn, Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Lucile West Ruphol and Mary Mishler; and five brothers, Truman, Willis, Harvey, Noble and Junior Sherck. A 1935 graduate of Middlebury High School, he was owner of Sherck Appliance Store, Goshen from 1962-1979. He had also worked for Elkhart County Farm Bureau Co-Op. Mr. Sherck was a member of West Goshen Church of the Brethren and Goshen Lions Club. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, June 13, at West Goshen Church of the Brethren. Rev. Mike Overpeck will officiate. Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to West Goshen Church of the Brethren or Harbor Lights Hospice.
