Rev Arthur Barkman Janz

Rev. Arthur Barkman Janz, 82, of Goshen, Indiana, died Monday, November 17, 2008, at Greencroft Healthcare.   He was born in Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada on July 24, 1926 to Benjamin and Katherina (Barkman) Janz. He married Martini Reimer in Steinbach on September 1, 1946. She survives.   Mr. Janz moved to Elkhart in 1969, then to Goshen in 2002. He was a member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church and served as a missionary.   He is survived by his wife; three sons, Larry (Sue Markey) Janz of Goshen, Mark (Debra VanEnglen) Janz of Alta Loma, California, and Bruce (Ann) Campbell-Janz of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Joanne Janz and Brenda (fiancé Randy Yoran) Janz Hoover, both of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; nine grandchildren; a sister, Katherine Janz Regier of Steinbach, Manitoba; and two brothers, Walter Janz of Dallas, Oregon and Alvin (Agnes) Janz of Steinbach.   He was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Brandt, Annie Kreutzer, and Lydia Regehr; and three brothers, Peter Janz, Benjamin Janz, and John Janz.   Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, November 20 at The Meetinghouse at Greencroft and 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday, November 21 at Prairie Street Mennonite Church.   A 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 21, 2008 funeral service will be conducted at Prairie Street Mennonite Church in Elkhart. Pastor Andrew Kreider will officiate.   Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.   In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to send gifts to Africa Inter-Mennonite Mission (AIMM) or Prairie Street Mennonite Church.
