Arthur P. Hicks

Arthur P. Hicks, 85, of Goshen, passed away Monday morning, November 25, 2013, at Courtyard Healthcare when he had been since Thursday. He was born June 8, 1928 in New Castle to Samuel and Ella (Moles) Hicks. On June 28, 1947 he married Phyllis C. Peed at her home in Mooreland. She survives along with three sons, Steven (Gail) Hicks of Elkhart, Gene Hicks of LaGrange and Phillip Hicks of Goshen; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lucille Helton; a brother, James Wilber Hicks; and two grandsons, Derek and Ryan Hicks. A 1945 graduate of Mooreland High School, Mr. Hicks was an engineer for General Motors, Fisher Body in Marion, retiring in 1990. He was an active member of Beulah Missionary Church where he served as a greeter, a groundskeeper and a handyman. He taught Sunday school when living in Jonesboro. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 1 p.m., funeral service on Friday at Beulah Missionary Church, 57595 Old County Road 17, Goshen. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
