Annie Nuala Lyons

Annie Nuala Lyons, 71, of Goshen, passed away Monday evening, June 13, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 6, 1940 in Dunmanway, Co. Cork, Ireland to Denis and Ellen (Murphy) Lyons. In 1960, Annie moved to New York City. She also lived in Philadelphia, PA, Pontiac, IL, and lastly moved to Goshen, IN in 2001. For more than 30 years, she worked as a nanny for many families. Annie enjoyed crocheting, baking, making rosaries, and Irish Celtic music. The love of her life however, was her family. Annie enjoyed creating cookouts, picnics, and big dinners for as many friends and family as she could. Annie was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She had also been a member of the Legion of Mary, the Rosary Makers, and the Pilgrim Virgins, all through St. Mary's Church in Pontiac, IL. Annie also supported the Parents Auxiliary of the Boys & Girls Club of Goshen with baked goods, and hand made items for their Santa's Workshop. She is survived by her children, Mike (Pam) Smith and Maureen (Tom) Denk, both of Goshen; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Anthony Lyons and Fonsie Lyons, both of Dunmanway, Ireland; and a sister, Maureen O'Flynn of Cork City, Ireland. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Kevin Lyons. Friends may call 1-3 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 16, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 6:00 p.m., rosary will be recited. A 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2011, funeral mass will be conducted at St. John's the Evangelist Catholic Church,Goshen. Rev. Father Christopher Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Home Care and Hospice or St. John's Catholic Church. A 7 p.m., Friday, June 17, celebration of Annie's life will be held at the Boys & Girls Club of Goshen, 306 Crescent Street, Goshen.
