Annie Laurie Hardie

February 8, 1928 — March 9, 2020

Goshen

Annie Laurie Hardie, 92, long time resident of the Goshen area, passed away peacefully Monday March 9, 2020 at Greencroft Health Center.

Laurie was born on February 8, 1928, to John and Irma (Wolking) Ogilvie, and was raised in Albuquerque, NM where she attended the University of New Mexico.  She moved to Chicago and became secretary to the president of McCormick Theological Seminary where she met Andrew Hardie and they were married in his senior year as divinity student.  They relocated to Scotland where Andrew did post graduate work in Edinburgh.  Both having Scottish roots, they enjoyed their time in a Dumbarton pulpit exchange, Edinburgh sabbatical and numerous trips to visit relatives on both sides of the family.

The Hardies served the Goshen Presbyterian Church where Andrew was pastor for 35 years.  Laurie is survived by son, George Hardie, daughter Heather Hardie (Hamilton) Harwood, and granddaughter Molly.  She was active in the children’s schools, the church and Goshen community at large.  The Hardies led many youth-group trips and tours of Europe, the Holy Land and Alaska.

Laurie served as Goshen Hospital Foundation Director.  It was her pleasure to see students supported in their studies, new equipment installed and the building of an endowment.  She was instrumental in developing the Lifeline program supporting seniors choosing to live independently.  She also was a primary developer of the Meals-on-Wheels program, one of the first in northern Indiana.

Laurie served on the Presbyterian Church session, was named “Woman of the Year” by the Goshen Business and Professional Women’s Club, sat on the boards of directors of Greencroft Communities, Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester and the Oakwood Resort on Lake Wawasee.

In the greatest effort to honor the life of Laurie Hardie and in the interest of all wishing to participate, a time of visitation and memorial service will be planned for a later date, due to public health concerns confronting us at this time.

Memorial gifts may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 215 E Lincoln Ave, Goshen, IN 46528, Greencroft Communities, 1721 Greencroft Blvd, Goshen, IN 46526, Peabody Retirement Community, 400 W 7 th St, North Manchester, IN 46962.
