Annabelle J. Packer, 86, of New Paris, died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Courtyard Health Care, Goshen. She was born February 23, 1926, in Nappanee, to Ralph and Beulah (Anglemyer) Bates. She married Oscar A. Packer Jr., November 3, 1946, in Millersburg. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2006. She worked many years in the RV industry as a sewing supervisor. She was a member at Middlebury Church of the Brethren. She is survived by three daughters, Gloria (Chuck) Wymer of Churubusco, Glenda Packer of Middlebury, Gwen (Todd) Linn of Goshen; three sons, Gregory Packer of Middlebury, Gary Packer of Goshen, and Gordon (Cindy) Packer of New Paris; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a sister, Berdine (Vernon) Frey of Goshen; two brothers, Donald Bates of Elkhart, and Gordon (Willodean) Bates of Goshen. She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Miller; and a brother, Roy Bates. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 9, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m., Monday funeral service at Middlebury Church of the Brethren. Pastor Rich Troyer will officiate. Burial will be in Gracelawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be directed to Middlebury Church of the Brethren - Building Fund.
