Anna Mae Vest

Anna Mae Vest, 82, of Goshen, died early Tuesday morning, January 25, 2011, at her home. She was born December 28, 1928 in Dudley, Illinois, to the late Clara Katherine Planson. In September 1953 she married James C. Vest in Goshen.  He died May 15, 1982. Surviving are four daughters, Janie (Kevin) Wilson of Statesville, North Carolina , Barbara (Buddy) Berry of Elkhart, Hazel (James) Asher of Weiner, Arkansas, and Brenda (Robert) Rogers of Mountain View, Arkansas; four sons, Joseph Secrest of New Jersey, Peewee Robert Secrest of North Webster, Charles Vest of Goshen, and James (Cathy) Vest of Harrisburg, Arkansas; 31 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Wilma (Lamar) Branson, Wanda Taylor, and Shirley Allberry, all of Goshen. She was preceded by two daughters, Sharon Tucker and Rachel Vest; a son, Floyd Vest; and granddaughter, Christy Lynn Vandiver. A long time resident of the North Webster and Goshen area, Mrs. Vest was well known for her cooking, especially bread.  She had worked for several area restaurants. She had also worked for Chase Bag Factory for 20 years running a spinning machine. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 27, and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday at the funeral home. An 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 28, 2011, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor James Shrock of First Baptist Church, Goshen, will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
