Today we celebrate the life of Anna Marie Hollar,97, formerly of Elkhart, who died February 10, 2018, at Greencroft Healthcare.
Anna was born July 29, 1920 to Guy and Margaret Bulla.
She is survived by her two sons, James (Ann) Hollar of Huntington and Dr. Wilbur “Bill” Hollar of Kernersville, North Carolina; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur “Bill” Hollar; a daughter, Margaret “Peg” Rapp; a son-in-law, Edgar “Joe” Rapp; a daughter-in-law, Carol Hollar; sister, Janet Kline and former husband Claire Lemmon.
Anna graduated from Elkhart High School in 1938 and attended Goshen College for one year dreaming of being a lawyer. She loved to debate.
Anna was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, Elkhart, serving as the director of the Altar Guild and a member of the Von Burq Society. She was a member of the Elkhart Moose Auxiliary Chapter 73 and a member of the Academy of Friendship. As a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Elkhart and a life member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary, she touched many lives.
Anna worked at Miles Laboratory for 32 years as a quality control inspector and packaging supervisor. She was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Anna’s hobbies included reading, music, card playing, gardening and writing short stories. She spent endless hours and years creating individual scrapbooks for each of her children and grandchildren that will be cherished for generations to come. Anna loved to host large parties entertaining her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
At Anna’s request there will be no viewing. She will be cremated and her remains laid to rest with her mother, Margaret Bulla, in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.
