Ann R. Gunden

December 23, 1917 — November 20, 2019

Tampa

Ann Gunden was born to Levi and Fannie Wenger in Smithville, Ohio on December 23, 1917. She was reunited with the Lord and many loved ones on November 20, 2019 in Tampa, Florida.

In May 1941, after graduation from Goshen College, she married Orville Gunden. They settled in Goshen where he farmed and later became a general contractor. Ann taught in Goshen Community Schools and was the bookkeeper for her husband’s business. She was a long-time member of College Mennonite Church. After retirement, she spent most winters in Sarasota, Florida. She particularly enjoyed her nieces and nephews, grandchildren and later her great grandchildren and was devoted to her family.  She had many friends in Goshen and in Sarasota and after her death people representing both sides of the family said she was their favorite aunt. She was good natured and had a keen sense of humor even in her later years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Orville, and her parents and four siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Brian) Kennedy of Tampa, Florida, two grandchildren, Kara (Joe) Fortman and Kevin (Nicole) Kennedy, and two great grandchildren, Casey and Brooke Fortman.

A memorial service was held in Tampa in January. There will be a private burial in Violett Cemetery on August 14, 2020, and a family celebration of life will be held when it is safe to do so. Memorials can be sent to the College Mennonite Church.
