Angela Joy Ver Ploeg, 81, of Loudon, Tennessee and formerly of Goshen, passed away Friday evening, December 18, 2015, at her sister’s home in Knoxville, Tennessee after a long struggle with cancer.
Angela was born on December 17, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio to Owen and Anna Mae (Bennett) Henn.
On August 8, 1988, she married Dan Ver Ploeg.
He survives, along with Angela’s two sons, Steven Wade Bollinger of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Ty Martin Bollinger of Detroit, Michigan; a granddaughter, Sydney Bollinger; two brothers, Cecil and Dwight Henn; and a sister, Joan Henn.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her oldest child, Melody Ann Bollinger.
Despite growing up very poor in the depression era, Angela attended and graduated from Manchester College in 1957 where she received a psychology degree. It was in 1979 that Angela decided to go back to school and earn a graduate degree in School Psychology. From the mid 1980’s until 2014, she worked as a school psychologist and specialized in testing and diagnosis. She worked in Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, and then from 2001-2014 in Alaska.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, December 22, 2015, one hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at New Paris Cemetery.
