Andrew J. Waters

Andrew J. Waters, age 71, of Goshen, died at 11:30 p.m., Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Goshen Hospital of endocarditis due to a blood infection.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 16, 1950.

In his 50-year working life, he worked on ferries in New York harbor, taught for the Peace Corps in Cameroon, served as a personnel officer, and found his calling as director of public libraries in Washington State, Oregon, and Indiana. He believed passionately, in Frederick Douglass’ words, that “Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.”

Andrew is survived by his spouse Victoria, son Noah and his partner Kim, and six siblings, whom he loved very, very much.

According to his wishes, there will be no services.
