Amy Jo Miller, 53, of Syracuse passed away Monday, May 4, 2026 at home surrounded by her family after an extended illness.
She was born June 23, 1972, in Elkhart to Joseph Hal and Judith Lee (Erickson) Trout.
Her parents survive along with her husband, Jeff Miller; daughters Makinsey (Jason Boateng) Miller and Kayla Miller; and a brother, Brett (Jennifer) Trout and his children, Olivia, Sophia and Garrett.
Other survivors include her father-in-law, Skip Miller, sister-in -law Anita (Brad) Fisher and their children Kate (Landen Hughes) Fisher and Landon (Emmy) Fisher.
She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Linda Miller.
A Concord High School graduate, Amy was inducted into the school's sports hall of fame. She was also named Kiwanis Athlete of the year her senior year. She went on to receive her master’s in education degree from Indiana University.
Mrs. Miller was very active in her community, especially at Wawasee community schools where she was the English department chair and AP English teacher. She was part of the softball coaching staff and the head volleyball coach for many years. She was a very detailed planner. She planned prom and graduation for Wawasee as well as family trips and reunions.
Amy enjoyed singing especially at weddings and at church. She was involved in several book clubs and was director for the Miss Kosciusko County pageant. She loved to travel and spend time with her many friends.
Visitation will be Thursday May 7, 2026 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Friends are encouraged to wear any Indiana University, Chicago Cubs, Indianapolis Colts or Wawasee Warriors sports apparel.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
