Amos W. Miller, 83, of Goshen, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016, at his home after a brief and courageous battle with leukemia.
He was born November 27, 1932 in Topeka, Indiana to Willis and Fannie (Miller) Miller.
On February 23, 1957 he married Grace Jean Moehring at Hazel Park Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hazel Park, Michigan.
He is survived by his beloved wife, “Gracie”; much loved son and daughter-in-law, Michael David (Rosemarie) Miller of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; dear step-grandson and wife, David (Rachel) Frey of Vancouver, British Columbia; sister, Edna Slabach of Goshen; sister-in-law, Ada Miller of Shipshewana and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.
Following graduation from Scott High School he served four years in the Air Force. His favorite deployment was Sidi Slimane AFB, Morocco.
He was a graduate of International Business College, Fort Wayne, Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio and did graduate work at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. In 1993 he retired from the U.S. Treasury Department.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 17, 2016, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Friends may also call Sunday, September 18, one hour prior to the 2 p.m., funeral service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 30888 C.R. 6, Elkhart. Pastor Christopher Davis will officiate.
A private burial will follow on Monday at Violett Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund or Bethesda Lutheran Communities, Watertown, Wisconsin.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to Dr. D. Kay and staff; Dr. E. Kio; Trinity Lutheran Church family and family and friends for their loving care and concern throughout Amos’ illness.
