Amos M. Miller, 81, of Syracuse, Indiana and formerly of Goshen, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at Goshen General Hospital. He was born in Middlebury Township, Elkhart County, Indiana, on August 9, 1927 to Menno D. and Barbara A. (Mast) Miller. He married Mona L. Reynolds in Elkhart on June 23, 1957. She died May 27, 1994. He married Colleen May Watson Downing on November 11, 1995. She died January 2, 2001. A lifelong resident of the area, Mr. Miller worked as a dispatcher and truck driver for Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 37 years. He was a member of the VFW & DAV of Goshen, the Goshen Hospital Cardiac Club, the Coca-Cola Collectors Club, and a past member of the Goshen Moose Lodge. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Austria during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by one daughter, Doray (Lowell) Nicolai of Goshen; one son, Brian Miller of Goshen; one stepdaughter, Melissa (Jamie) Brazeau of Osceola; one stepson, Charles Downing of Goshen; and two step-grandchildren, Ashley and Nathan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Perry M. Miller in May 2008. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, November 13, at the funeral home. A 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 14, 2008 funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Carldean Merrifield of Solomon Creek United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
