Alvin J. Miller, 85, of Goshen, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 7, 2015, with his family by his side at IU Health Goshen Hospital, following an extended illness. He was born December 23, 1929 in LaGrange to Oba A. and Fannie (Miller) Miller. On April 4, 1951 he married Fannie Mae Miller in Goshen. He later married Barbara (Blough) Miller on October 8, 1977. She survives along with his children, Paul (Dalia) Miller, of Olympia, Washington, Miriam "Mim" Miller, of McMinnville, Oregon, Jonathan (Carol) Miller, of Canby, Oregon, and Titus Miller, of Portland, Oregon; step-children, Jeff (Teresa) Miller, of Nappanee, and Debra Miller, of Goshen; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura (Mahlon) Gingerich, of Spooner, Wisconsin, and Sara (John) Miller, of Cochranton, Pennsylvania; two sisters-in-law, Ann Miller, of Leo, and Mary Miller, of Elkhart; and a brother-in-law, Bob Taulbee, of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clarence "C.J.", Jonas and Andrew, who died in infancy; and a sister, Mary Taulbee. Alvin lived in Texas for a number of years before returning to the Goshen area. A member of West Goshen Church of the Brethren, he worked in sales at WCRM and WXAX radio stations. He also worked in the travel trailer industry, and most recently worked in security at the AM General Hummer Plant in Mishawaka. While at Greencroft he was awarded the "volunteer of the year". He was also was an active member of the Northern Indiana Model Train Club. Friends may call on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10 am Wednesday, March 11, 2015, funeral service at West Goshen Church of the Brethren. Rev. Norm Replogle will officiate. Burial will follow at Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Yoder-Culp Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
