Alta L. Young

Alta L. Young, 94, of Goshen, died early Monday afternoon, April 21, 2008, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born in Goshen on August 12, 1913, to Orlando and Lydia (Cripe) Manges.  She married Everett Young on May 21, 1936, in Warsaw.  He preceded her in death on January 10, 2001. A lifetime resident of the Goshen and Millersburg area, Mrs. Young owned Young’s 5 & 10 Store.  She was a member of the Zion Community Church in Millersburg. She is survived by a step-son, Richard C. (Annie) Young of Middlebury; a nephew, Greg Hartzog; four step-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Ethel Wideman and Dora Hoartzog; and four brothers, Noble, Maynard, Ervin and Charles Manges. Friends may call 12 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 23 and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. A 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 24, 2008, funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Doane of the Zion Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Rock Run Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Community Church.
