Alpha Jean Kitchen Bailey

Alpha J. Kitchen Bailey, 84, of Goshen, died Saturday afternoon, February 1, 2014, at Courtyard Healthcare where she had been since January 16. She was born July 10, 1929 in Syracuse to John and Bernice (Rockenbaugh) Paugh. In 1947 she married Louis Leroy Kitchen in Syracuse. He died in 1995. On Dec. 4, 1997 she married Carrol Bailey in Florida. He died in Jan. 7, 2013. Mrs. Bailey is survived by three children, George W. John Kitchen and Mary Bernice Davis, both of Elkhart, and Phillip Michael Kitchen of Goshen; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four siblings, Phillip Paugh, Goshen, Joan McClainof Zephyrhills, Florida, Barbara (Howard) Bashor of Knox and Peggy (Forrest) Feightner of Ligonier. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a son, Louis Bradley Kitchen and a daughter, Kelly Jo Kitchen. A lifetime area resident, Mrs. Bailey was a beautician and owned several beauty shops in town. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the visitation and burial will be at a later date at Solomon Creek Cemetery, Syracuse. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Light Hospice.
