Alma M. Swartzendruber Heap

Alma Swartzendruber Heap, 91, of Goshen, died early Tuesday morning, May 22, 2012, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born February 9, 1921 in Pigeon, Michigan to Joseph and Emma (Shetler) Swartzendruber. She married James C. Heap July 24, 1965 in Goshen. He died July 4, 2007. She is survived by a sister, Bess (Joseph) Gabriel of Kent, Ohio; and two brothers, Edward (Mary) Swartzendruber and Claude (Shirley) Swartzendruber, both of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, William, Paul, Walter and Omar Swartzendruber. A Goshen resident since 1990, Mrs. Heap was an elementary school teacher for 31 years. She was a member of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church where she was active in the Women's Auxiliary and Gideon's International. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2012, funeral service will be conducted. Rev. Gordon Bacon, Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Women's Auxiliary at Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church or Gideon's International.
