Alma "Jeanie" Jean Cox

Alma “Jeanie” Cox, 98 of Osceola died Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the home of her daughter on hospice.

She was born December 6, 1927 in Manila, Arkansas to James Roy Lancester and Odessa Maud “Maudie” (Grimsley) Lancaster.

She married William Allen Cox August 4, 1997 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He died July 3, 2023.

Survivors include daughters, Sheri Howland of Mishawaka and Keely DeMeulenaere of Osceola, and a son Bill “Shan” Layne of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Kitty Barns.

Along with her parents and husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by sisters, Donna Ashburn and Betty Schnable, and a brother, Bill Lancaster.

Jeanie enjoyed working with her hands, cooking, gardening and sewing. She also enjoyed fishing , searching out antiques and was an avid reader, Danielle Steele was a favorite author.

A graveside service will take place Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.

Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
