Allen W. Fredrickson, 79, of Goshen, died at his home Tuesday evening, July 4, 2006. He had been in failing health the past 11 years and the past six years with cancer. He was born August 7, 1926, in Odebolt, Iowa, to the late Orrie and Beulah (Manahan) Frederickson. He moved to the Goshen/Millersburg area at the age of 2 ½ years. He married Lovina Miller on July 1, 1951, at the Rock Run Church of the Brethren in Goshen. He retired from the Goshen Post Office in 1989 after 31 ½ years. He was a Pager at the Goshen Public Library for 17 years. A 1944 Millersburg High School and 1951 Manchester College graduate, he was a US Navy veteran and served in the National Guard for three years. Mr. Fredrickson was a member of the Rock Run Church of the Brethren where he served as church clerk for 30 years, did church directories for 18 years, and also served as church historian. A member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, he just received his 50 year pin. An avid sports fan, he kept records of Goshen, Fairfield and Indiana University. He also kept weather records for 40 years. Mr. Fredrickson is survived by his wife, Lovina; a son, Scott Fredrickson of Fort Wayne; Cindy (Garry) Hattery and Ginny (Dorn) Nichols, both of Goshen; and five grandchildren. Also surviving are a half-brother, John “Jerry” (Janice) Leek of Syracuse; a step-brother, Owen (Louise) Leek, Jr. of Palm Bay Florida; and a step-sister, Audrey Gill of Hayesville, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Owen Leek, Sr.; two step-sisters, Virginia Frey and Phyllis Hartsough; a half-brother, Nathan Leek; and a step-brother, Richard Leek. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 6, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. An 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 7, 2006, funeral service will be conducted at the Rock Run Church of the Brethren, Goshen. Pastor Tim Waits will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Run Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rock Run Church of the Brethren or Care at Home Hospice.
