Alice M. Saunders, 89, of Mishawaka, died late Friday night, May 1, 2015 at South Bend Hospice House. She was born May 1, 1926 in Elkhart to Joseph Lewis and Madeline Irene (Southworth) Vincent. On April 2, 1949 she married Paul K. Saunders in South Bend. He died April 19, 2009. She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Dr. Fred) Von Gunten, of Harvest, Alabama; three grandchildren, Todd Von Gunten, Lisa (Chris) Spence and Tiffany (Bradley) Nielsen; five great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Zoė Von Gunten, Jacob Spence, Hannah and Laura Nielsen; two sisters, Gladys (Ward) Correll, of Elkhart, and Edith (Joe) Hubbard, of Bradenton, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Sandra Heiden; and two brothers, Lewis and Charles Vincent. A 1945 Bristol High School graduate, Mrs. Saunders worked in business with her husband Paul at Saunders Construction until retiring in 1994. She also did bookkeeping and payroll for Dallas & Mavis trucking, along with home healthcare. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Center for Hospice team for their outstanding care for Alice and family support. According to Alice's wishes, there will not be any services. A private burial will be held at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.
