Alice G. Martin

Alice Gerig Martin, 97, of Goshen, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, April 1, 2008, at her home. She was born in Goshen on June 21, 1910, to Daniel S. and Bessie (Landis) Gerig.  She married Dr. Floyd Samuel Martin in Hagerstown, Maryland on September 6, 1936.  He died January 6, 1970. A homemaker, Mrs. Martin graduated from Goshen High School in 1928 and from Bluffton College in Ohio in 1932.  She had been a member of the Phielomathians, Psi Iota Xi Sorority; and was a founding member of the Elkhart County Medical Auxiliary. She is survived by a daughter, Jane (Craig Remner) Martin Quilty of Westminster, Colorado; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd. Friends may call 11 to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2008, at the funeral home where a 1:00 p.m. funeral service will be held.  Greencroft Chaplain Dee Swartz will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Greencroft Foundation.
