Alice J. Edlund, 77, of Goshen, died at her home, the same home where she was born, Saturday afternoon, May 10, 2014, after a three year battle with cancer. She was born May 24, 1936 in Waterford Mills, to George and Wilma (Christner) Turnbow. On June 3, 1956 she married Edward Edlund. He survives along with three children, Dawn M. (Donald) McQuarie and David (Cynthia) Edlund, both of Goshen and Douglas (Kristi) Edlund of Middlebury; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Helen Jean Turnbow and Patricia Folker and a brother, George "Bud" Turnbow, Jr. A lifetime area resident, except for 12 years in Ludington, Michigan, Mrs. Edlund worked at Salem Bank and then in the Recorder's Office until her retirement. She was a member of the New Paris Missionary Church. She loved living by the river and watching all of the wildlife outside her sun room. She could often be found working in her flower beds, planting or moving flowers from one spot to another. She also enjoyed the beaches from Nova Scotia to the Great Lakes to Destin, Florida, where she collected seashells, rocks and driftwood. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2014, memorial service will be conducted at New Paris Missionary Church with Pastor David Hackney officiating. Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory and burial will be at a later date in Violett Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Home Care and Hospice or Goshen Center for Cancer Care.
