Alexander Herus

Alexander Herus, 86, of Goshen, died Sunday at Golden Living Center, Elkhart where he had been a resident for the last 2 months. He was born January 6, 1924 in the Ukraine to Anton and Horpyna (Hazuk) Herus.  On May 14, 1945 he married Maria Taranenko in Nordhorn, Germany.  She survives.      Also surviving are nieces and nephews, living in the Ukraine. He was preceded in death by a sister, Maria Zebal, and a brother, Wolodymer Herus. Mr. Herus last worked as a machinist at LaBor Pump Company, Elkhart, for 12 years.  He retired in 1989. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Goshen. Friends may call 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 17, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where a 7:00 p.m., Panakhyda Service will be held. A 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010, funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Goshen. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.
