Aldine Leroy Thomas, 81, of Goshen, passed away at his home Tuesday evening, February 10, 2015. He was born in Middlebury on June 8, 1933 to Ora and Mabel (Chupp) Thomas. On Feb. 20, 1955 he married Esther Yoder in Goshen. She survives along with a daughter, Richele (George) Hofsommer of Middlebury; a son, Michael (Laura) Thomas of Goshen; seven grandchildren, Austin (Jill) Hofsommer of Nicaragua, Brianne (Craig) Allen of Chicago, Illinois, Luke Hofsommer of Willowbrook, Illinois, Abigail (Eric) Mauser of Columbus, Ohio, Jerica Hofsommer of Canyon, Texas and Ariel and Cole Thomas, both of Goshen; and two sisters, Ellen (Ray) Bontrager of Middlebury and Lorene Kropf of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Rick Thomas. A lifetime area resident, Aldine was a farmer and worked at the Topeka Livestock Auction. He was an active member of Clinton Frame Mennonite Church where he served as pastor of visitation and outreach. He also served as a volunteer chaplain at Goshen Hospital and was active in prison ministry. Friends may call Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church. Family and friends will gather at the church on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at 2 p.m.to go in procession to Miller Cemetery, Goshen. A Sunday, February 15, 2015, memorial service will be conducted at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church starting at 4 p.m. Pastors Terry Diener and Matt Yoder will officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to Clinton Frame Mennonite Church Outreach, Revive Indiana or Student's International. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
