Alden Lantz Bohn, 79, of Goshen, died Monday evening, June 13, 2011, at his home. He had been ill with cancer for three months. He was born March 15, 1932 in Souderton, Pennsylvania, to Ernest and Nora (Lantz) Bohn. He moved to the Elkhart area in 1963. On June 19, 1954 he married Doris L. Roberts in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. She survives. Also surviving are their children, Trish Donaldson of Burton, Ohio, Karl (Julie) Bohn of Windsor, California, Linda Bohn, and Dave (Heather) Bohn, both of Goshen; four grandchildren, Brendan, Kevin, Risa, and Braden; three sisters, Esther Groves of Newton, Kansas, Catherine (Harold) Hartman of Goshen, and Eleanor Unruh of Lawrence, Kansas; and two brothers, E. Stanley (Anita) Bohn of Newton, Kansas, and John (Tina) Bohn of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Klassen. He worked for Elkhart Community Schools for 24 years and was their first clinical social worker. He also worked at Oaklawn Psychiatric Center for seven years. He was a member of Hively Avenue Mennonite Church, Elkhart; and the National Association of Social Workers. He was a former a board member at Bashor Home and Camp Friedenswald. A graduate of Bluffton College, he received his Master's degree from Ohio State and attended Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 8, 2011, at Hively Avenue Mennonite Church, 800 E. Hively Ave., Elkhart. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2011, starting at 10 a.m. at Eighth Street Mennonite Church, 602 S. 8th Street, Goshen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Camp Friedenswald or Goshen Home Care and Hospice or Center for Community Justice.
