Albert “Red” Wayne Nisly, 88, of Goshen, died peacefully at Goshen Hospital Monday, September 8, 2025.
He was born April 16, 1937, in McMinnville, Oregon to Jacob and Anna (Weirich) Nisly.
On November 3, 1962, he married Amanda Gingerich in Arthur, Illinois. She preceded him in death last October.
He is survived by twin daughters, Debra O’Bryant and Denette Showalter, both of Goshen, Indiana; grandchildren, Dexter O’Bryant of Goshen and Preston O’Bryant of Los Angeles, California; and a brother, Aden Nisly of Salem, Oregon.
Along with his beloved wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Donald Showalter, and five siblings.
Red retired from Coachman Industries after working there for more than 40 years. As a truck driver he has visited every state except Hawaii. A man of faith, he read through the entire Bible three times and was in the process of a fourth reading of the New Testament. He was a simple man who would go to the ends of the earth for his family. He had integrity and believed in the honor of your word and a handshake.
He enjoyed watching old Westerns and listening to southern gospel music.
Red was a people person and loved to tell a joke, never the same one twice. He loved the punch line more than the person he was telling it to.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 15, 2025, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.
There will also be one hour of visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Brenneman Missionary Church prior to the 11 a.m. memorial service.
