Agnes Ilene Swartz, 77, of Goshen and formerly of AuGres, Michigan, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Monday, February 19, 2018, at Goshen Hospital after a five-month battle with cancer.
She was born August 4, 1940 in AuGres to Levi and Laura Swartz.
She is survived by three sisters and two brothers, Naomi (John, deceased) Jantzi of Goshen, Leona (Glen) Lyons of Standish, Michigan, Eunice (Nelson) Good of Pinconning, Michigan, Olen (Elaine) Swartz, and Gerald (Diane) Swartz, both of Au Gres, Michigan and Carol Hill, her loyal and loving friend at Greencroft. Agnes dearly loved her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Arlyn Jantzi.
Agnes was a nurses’ aide and spent many years caring for elderly people. All she served were very touched by her loving hands and her sweet and encouraging spirit.
Agnes moved from AuGres to Greencroft in 2012.
She was a member of the Riverside Mennonite Church, AuGres but attended the Mennonite Church in National City, Michigan.
Friends may call Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Gathering Place at Evergreen on Goshen Greencroft campus and Friday, Feb. 23, 2018 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Riverside Mennonite Church, AuGres, where an 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 funeral service will be conducted. Pastor James Schlegel will officiate and burial will follow at Sims-Whitney Cemetery, AuGres.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking, those planning an expression of sympathy, to consider memorials to Goshen Cancer Center or National City Mennonite Church.
