Adalea Jones, 90, of Goshen, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Courtyard Healthcare.
Adalea was born May 25, 1930 in Anderson. On June 20, 1948 she married Donald Jones. Together they had three sons, Dennis (Tammy Lemert) Jones of Bristol, Monte Jones of Goshen and David Jones of Syracuse; three grandchildren, Kimberly (Dustin) Mast of Goshen, Heather (Steve) Moreno of San Diego and Jonathan (Shaun) Jones of South Bend; and four great-grandchildren.
Adalea was a member of First Church of God, now Life Point, Goshen, for more than 50 years. In the early 1970’s she became part of a youth program at the church and this became her passion – helping children, which could lead into telephone conversations well past midnight. She also started a ministry for special needs people at the church. She lent her ear to anyone with a problem and had an amazing talent to help solve their problem. Her desire to help and serve others over herself was the most amazing part of her life. Even as she aged and was in the nursing home, she was till lending her ear to the younger people who had concerns.
A 1948 graduate of Gaston High School, Adalea worked in the banking industry for 28 years – first at Salem Bank, then Key Bank and retired from First State Bank, Middlebury in 2005 at the age of 75.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Helen (Blake) Carver; her husband of 55 years, Donald E. Jones; her twin sister, Rosalea (Fred) Janney; and daughter-in-law, Ruth Jones.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 26, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 27, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Craig Garber will officiate.
