Ada Steury, 86, of Goshen, died early Friday morning February 24, 2006, at Greencroft Healthcare, where she was admitted after suffering a stroke on December 16, 2005. She was born December 16, 1919, in Goshen to Sam and Sarah (Yoder) Troyer. On December 19, 1940, in Middlebury at the Griner Church, she married Virgil H. Steury. He died November 7, 2000. Mrs. Steury was a lifetime resident of the area. She was an active community volunteer, a restaurant manager and co-founder of Veada Industries. She was an active member of the North Goshen Mennonite Church, a devoted mother and wife. Mrs. Steury is survived by a daughter, Helen (Ken) Nafziger of Harrisonburg, Virginia; two sons, Robert W. (Barbara) Steury of Goshen and Douglas V. (LuAnn) Steury of New Paris; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Ida (Vernon) Riegsecker of Middlebury and Edith Herschberger of Goshen; and four brothers, Elroy Troyer, Ora Troyer, Floyd Troyer and Sam Troyer, all of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; a son, Donnie Lee Steury; a twin brother, Alvin and a brother, Howard. Friends will be received 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, February 25, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A semi-private graveside service will be held in Violett Cemetery. A 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2006, Memorial service will be held at North Goshen Mennonite Church. Pastors Jerry Wittrig and Darrel Hostetler will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to North Goshen Mennonite Church.
