He was born May 15, 1959 in Goshen to Alton Harley Stump and Evelyn VanderWerf.
Survivors include two daughters, Blair (Hugo) Jerez of Goshen and Jennifer (Harry) Thompson of Norrkoping, Sweden; two grandchildren, Brandon and Michelle; a sister, Cindy (John Jr.) VanderWerf of Goshen; two brothers, Curtis (Cyd) Stump of Mishawaka and Courtney (Chris) Stump of Goshen; and many nieces and nephews.
A lifetime area resident, Chris graduated from Northridge High School in 1977. After high school he earned his associates technical degree at Lincoln Tech and was a GM certified master mechanic for over 20 years. He worked as a machinist at Kessington, Elkhart and more recently at Avalign, Warsaw.
Chris was a frequent blood donor for the American Red Cross, donating seven gallons, the equivalent of 56 pints. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and former elder at Community Church of Waterford.
A kind and generous man, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his girls and grandchildren. He also loved to share God’s message.
Friends may call Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, and one hour prior to the 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017 funeral service also at the funeral home. Rev. Mike Overpeck will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Red Cross.
