Josephine "Jo" Snobarger Sherman, 89, of Goshen, died Sunday evening, November 27, 2005, at Americare Living Center, where she was admitted on Friday, November 25.

 

She was born May 9, 1916, in Goshen, to Jesse and Madge (Mishler) Snobarger.  On July 26, 1935, she eloped to Albany, Indiana, where she married Daniel H. Sherman.  He died September 26, 2003.

 

Mrs. Sherman was a 1934 graduate of Goshen High School.  She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Maplecrest Country Club and Tri Kappa Sorority.  She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and served on the board for The Window.

 

She won the Luther Halsey Gulick Campfire Award and was honored as Woman of the Year by the Goshen Business and Professional Women’s Club.

 

She enjoyed playing bridge, listening to music and reading.

 

She is survived by three nieces and three nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel, three brothers, Harry John and Richard Snobarger and a sister, Elizabeth Fidler.

 

Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, November 30, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

 

A 10:00 am funeral service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church.  Rev. Duane Schafer will officiate.

 

Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to Goshen Boys and Girls Club.
